Experience your world > France
With Southern Cross Cultural Exchange, France offers students a wondrous environment to continue their education of French culture and language. French romance, present in the country’s refined leisure philosophy and arts, comes alive to students at every turn. Castles and cathedrals, rivers and valleys, museums and cafés provide a balance to the abundance of language and cultural learning that forms the basis for acquired knowledge. Village streets and city sidewalks beckon the imagination to re-create the passionate and liberating events that have shaped the great nation.
France offers students a rich tapestry of cultural learning opportunity with French hosts welcoming and eager to share their “joie de vivre.” S.C.C.E. programs expose students to the history, people, lush landscapes and rich value on liberty and lifestyle that France offers. Australians aspiring to work in international diplomacy, business or arts and design, join S.C.C.E. programs to gain first-hand experience of French culture.
Fortunately French families are keen to share their homes and lives with Australian students from S.C.C.E. Over 3100 Australian students have had this unique opportunity through S.C.C.E., and have gained immensely from the cross-cultural experience and the chance to enhance French language skills.

My program was incredible, worthwhile, challenging, and enjoyable. I am still in regular contact with my host sister. We are both now married and have boys of a similar age. My host sister has been to Australia twice. I returned to France initially in 1993 when my host sister and I worked as camp leaders at a summer camp in a village in the Alps.

Edward went on a semester exchange to France. He accelerated when he returned and completed the HSC course for French Continuers and French Extension in Year 11, and achieved 5th place in the state for the Continuers Course and a Band 6 result for both courses. Congratulations Edward! He states this achievement “is no doubt attributable to the excellent experience that SCCE gave me the opportunity to have.”

A flood of wonderful memories comes back to me when I see the S.C.C.E. logo. The exchange program I undertook to France in 1986 remains one of the most amazing , challenging and rewarding periods in my life. In particular, I recall seeing wonderful places and learning about the French culture. I loved the language, the food, the way of life. But most of all, some friendships I made remain strong today and it’s been over 16years. I would love to spread the word about my incredible exchange program experiences, all thanks to S.C.C.E.

The French families dote on Australians, their knowledge of the language (or willingness to try) and their “joie de vivre”. Those families represent a full spectrum of French society from early-morning bakers of bread to the proprietors of ancient vineyards of the Dordogne.
The family that looks after your student becomes the truly appropriate French second family upon which a bulk of the personal experience is found. S.C.C.E. returnees from France have earned top French prizes in every state, a result of the immersion experience provided by the pro-gram’s well-balanced format.
The French school system is renowned for its traditional excellence and classic teaching methods. Through focused effort by the French school Principals and Local Representatives of the French exchange organisation, students are encouraged to enrol in a great variety of academic courses the schools offer. Students who go on a S.C.C.E. exchange program to France come back with a fresh knowledge of French culture and language and fortified appreciation for the people of France.
