Experience your world > Canada
Students choosing Canada will be placed in the French-speaking province of Quebec. Settled in the 16th century by French fur-trappers, Quebec then became a British colony in the 18th century but the French culture remained dominant, and French is still the official language.
Quebec, the cradle of Canada, is the largest province – three times the size of France – however the northern 90% remains largely unexplored. The most populated region is along the St. Lawrence River Valley.
History has made Quebec a place where cultures meet. The Quebecois have strong ties to the U.S.A, France and the U.K. The language and culture are distinctive, embodying many Northern American adaptations to the original French colony.
Ice-hockey dominates the spectator sports, with strong loyalties attached to its various teams. Canadian football and baseball are also very popular. Not as well-known but definitely to be tried by exchange students is the ice-sport, curling.
Exchange students will look forward to the two-week ‘Language Camp’ in Montreal, which kicks off the August programs.

"I had the time of my life when I was on exchange in Canada. Nothing beats living there and seeing it with your own eyes!
"The thing I loved the most was people wanting to learn about Australia. The Canadian people are so warm and friendly; they invite you into their lives without hesitation. It was the best thing I’ve ever done."
Beth Harrison from Dudley, N.S.W. to Ryecroft, Canada |
