Experience your world > South Africa

Bursting with exciting opportunities for exchange students, South Africa is one of the world’s foremost and most popular cultural hotspots.

In the process of developing and experiencing the most important social, political and cultural changes in its entire history, South Africa became one of S.C.C.E.’s destinations during such an exciting time for students wanting to witness these changes for themselves, and lend a hand in moving forward towards peaceful stability.

S.C.C.E. programs in South Africa are unique in that they give students the opportunity to ‘give back’ to their host communities. Volunteer projects of varying social and environmental priority will be assigned to all exchange students based upon the local hosting community, school schedules and secure transportation, creating a rare additional community element to an already full cultural program.

S.C.C.E.’s affiliate organisation takes great care in selecting a suitable host family, school and counsellor for students. The South African school system is regarded highly for its scholastic standards complimented by a dedicated artistic and sporting schedule incorporated into the curriculum.

Join the select group of young Australians that have travelled with S.C.C.E. to augment their appreciation for South African lifestyle and the beauty of the country, and who have returned with a new understanding of a country in a state of positive change.

"For a cultural exchange I believe there is no better destination than South Africa. It is as culturally rich and diverse as any curious open-minded student could hope to experience.

"The population exhibits a warm, inquisitive and pleasant attitude towards their fellow man; they seem to have a particularly high level of respect for Australia.

"Jo’burg is rich with history, change and the newfound taste of freedom. I found it beautiful.

"I want other students to know how symbolic it is to be a part-time citizen of Africa, which is, after all, the theoretical location of the birth of mankind. And then, there’s the majestic animals.."

Kate Spring of South Grafton, N.S.W. to Constantia Kloof, South Africa
